This is a Papago large circular basket made out of beargrass, yucca, and devil's claw. The techniques used are shared with the Pima tribe as well since they live along the Gila river. The design is a vortex fret design made out of devil's claw. The basket has a four knot square start and merges into a coiling method. The rim has a lace stitch made out of devil's claw and gives the rim more security. Devil's claw is very sturdy plant and gives this basket strength. This basket has no damage but has discoloration from age. However, a unique basket to add to your collection.
