Lewis, Milton

An early life in the Rocky Mountains of Montana

gave Milton Lewis a love for the great outdoors that has shaped his life and inspired him in his artistic approach. Milton Lewis is an artist who has "paid his dues."

After attending art school in Oklahoma and working there for ten years as an illustrator/designer, Lewis decided to pursue a career as a professional artist. After years on the road doing art shows and fairs and perfecting his technique, Lewis developed a style that is uniquely his own. Combining transparent and opaque watercolors and continually experimenting with new colors, movement, contrast and light, Lewis creates a fluid landscape that lies in the background, while his figures, which he paints with gouache, seem to float on the paper. As Lewis has worked to perfect his painting technique and style, the public has gravitated to him. Subtleties in color and light continue to be Milton's hallmark as his reputation as an artist and the demand for his work continue to escalate.

In recent years, Lewis has concentrated on painting in oils and has developed a unique technique. Today, Lewis and his wife, Pam, live in Southern Arizona. They are frequent travelers in the western United States where he draws his inspiration. He continues to experiment and grow with each piece that he paints.
