A Navajo canteen pot by Ida Sahmie(B. 1960). She creates pottery with Navajo designs and making the pot. This piece is from a sand painting design. It has Mother Earth and Father Sky. There are many stories that relate to the balance of male and female in Navajo culture. There is a ceremonial basket on the back of the pot. The basket is usually in ceremonies and often is given as a wedding gift. This piece measures 9 1/2 inches in height and 9 inches wide. This piece is signed on the bottom. It is in excellent condition.
