Atsuma Blackhorse (1886-1994) actively wove from 1900-1994. Atsuma is thought to hold the distinction for being the weaver with the longest active period in recorded history -over 90 years.(as of the year 2000.) Atsuma was a traditional Navajo lady whose weavings were on the cutting edge in the 1970s. This weaving design she did is of a painting that was done by Pablita Velarde, a famous Tewa/Santa Clara woman artist.
