Joe Cajero was born in 1970 in Santa Fe, NM, and raised in the Pueblo of Jemez. He is a descendant of a long line of artists. He knew at a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in art. He thought he would follow in his father's footsteps as a painter until one day his mother gave him a piece of clay to work with. He began by making a bear that sold immediately. He attended the American Indian Art School in Santa Fe after high school and earned an Associate's degree in Fine Arts. He continued to work with clay, which led him to work with bronze for 17 years. Also, he married Althea Cajero and inspired her to pursue a career as a silversmith. Joe is always looking for new ideas in different media. This is one of his jewelry casts, which he named Natural Divinity. An elegant piece to add to your collection.

Cuff Bracelet from the Natural Divinity Series

The panels on this cuff represent my Spiritual Understanding of Life and Relationship.

The stars represent the vastness of the Heavens. They also represent the three levels of creation: conscious, subconscious, and the superconscious. I also refer to this as body, mind, and spirit.

The panel with the wave pattern symbolizes water’s life-giving properties, fluidity, and an openness for prosperity and wisdom to flow into one’s life.

The dragonflies represent the masculine essence of life, and the butterflies represent all that is feminine.  Each goes through it’s own metamorphosis. I used them as symbols of change as we grow into new levels of awareness about life. In one panel the butterfly is leading and in the other the dragonfly is leading, this is because sometimes I take the initiative and sometimes my wife takes the initiative in life’s circumstances.  

The panel that has two-step designs represents altars that are in our sacred ceremonial rooms, a place of Oneness, Prayer, and Meditation.  

The panel that holds four circles of various sizes represents souls waiting to be conceived in their unique stages of spiritual evolution and level of awareness. The larger circles are souls with higher levels of wisdom and awareness. I believe we’ve all had experiences of meeting children and saying to ourselves, “there’s an Old Soul in that young child”.
