  • 7" Gibson Nez cuff with 1 3/4" long lapis tear drop.  Gibson Nez was a Jicarilla Apache and Navajo silversmith from Dulce, NM. Nez didn’t start making jewelry until the 1970′s. He was a quick learner and credited much of his success to other artists including Ben Nighthorse and Jesse Monongya, although his style was very different from theirs. He was a master of stamp work. When he added stones, he used the metal and stamped designs to accent and bring a focus to the stone. In his designs the stone seems to rise out of the design. He is well known for his fine-line chisel work and his skillful inlay of stones. His work has been featured in many museums and galleries across the United States and is highly prized by collectors today.
