Beatien Yazz, Little No Shirt (Jimmy Toddy) was born in 1928 on the Navajo Reservation. The Lippencotts, traders at the Wide Ruins Trading Post encouraged young Yazz by providing available scraps of paper and supplies to practice in color. After serving in the U.S. Marines in WW II he returned to the reservation and continued to paint reservation life. This painting is of a Navajo ceremony called, the fire dance, which is used for healing. This painting has fine lines and solid colors like most of Beatien Yazz's paintings. A fine painting to add to your collection.
