  • A beaded Kiowa awl case. This piece has light blue, navy blue, red, yellow and white beads on buckskin. It measures 10 inches in length and 2 inches at the widest. The awl was used to string sinew when making moccasins and clothing. The early awls were made of bone splinters. These types of pieces were worn on women's clothing. This one has a carved piece of wood.
