  • This is a painting by Percy Sandy (1918-1974) who resided in Zuni and later moved to Taos, NM.   He is also known as Kai-sa which means red moon. He attended elementary and secondary school at the village of Zuni, then went to Santa Fe to take a year's postgraduate work at the Indian School. Percy was influenced at the Indian School in Santa Fe, NM by all the art and artist that he was exposed to in his time there.

This painting started as a sketch because of the lines that are barely visible underneath then painted over. Its well done and has his signature on lower left. It is a fine painting to add to your collection.
