Washoe Cone by Ehney Cornbread, CBASMBG16-11

9" tall

7.5" diameter

  • The Washoe are the only Great Basin Indians who don't belong to the Numic family. Their presence predates the Northern Paiute. The Washoe territory is anywhere around the California and Nevada border with Lake Tahoe as the heart of their stomping grounds. Ehney Cornbread produced many one rod and gap-stitch baskets after 1935. He specialized in baby carriers until his death in 1984. This piece is pre-1965. It is a beautiful piece to add to your collection.
