Tohono O'odham Basket - Oval Shape, CBASSM13-35

A Tohono O'odham basket made into an oval shape. This basket is coiled with beargrass that is wrapped with yucca strips and devil's claw. It is woven at the rim with devil's claw using the 'X' stitch. Devil's claw is very sturdy fiber that makes the basket's shape hold even tighter. The design is similar to the squash blossom design but on a cylinder shape. This basket is dated around 1940s. It is woven in even strips that have no breakage. A beautiful basket to add to your collection.
