  • Stella Chavarria born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1939, Stella Tafoya Chavarria is the daughter of Teresita Naranjo, granddaughter of Christina Naranjo, great granddaughter of Serafina Tafoya. Stella began making pottery around 1955 and won her first award at the 1984 Santa Fe Indian Market. She became famous for the quality of her blackware jars, bowls and wedding vases. This vase has a red slip that was used and deep incisions around the pot. It has the avanyu (water serpent) around the pot. Its on thick walls that are well made and no cracks. A fine pot to add to your collection.
