Rattle Runner "AYA" Kachina, Robert Seechom, KCD9-13

  • This katsina is named "Aya", it means rattle runner. He is called this because his head is a rattle and he appears during the springtime to run with the men of the villlages. The katsinas challenge the people in short races, the winners are typically rewarded with bread prizes. The katsina features overly large eyes for better vision and has abbreviated clothing which allows better movements while racing. The height of the katsina measures 13" tall, the widest point measures 6" and the diameters base measures 3 1/2".
