  • Blue Corn was born "Crucita Calabaza" at San Ildefonso Pueblo and learned how to make pottery from her mother. She attended Santa Fe Indian school then was sent to Southern California after her parents died. She worked as a maid for a short time. At the age of 20 she married Santiago Calabaza who was a silversmith from Santo Domingo Pueblo. She became known for her polychrome pottery but also for her blackware. She won the "Governor's award which is New Mexico's highest artistic honor. This bowl is a solid piece with no cracks or damage. A beautiful bowl to add to your collection.
