Navajo Weaving - Storm Pattern, C009797

A Navajo storm pattern weaving. This weaving came from the "Covered Wagon" in Albuquerque, NM. This piece is woven with aniline dyed wool. The storm pattern weaving is subjective to the weaver. This weaving has the four sacred directions which can be associated with the four sacred mountains in Navajo culture. The zigzag lines represent lightning that connect to a box like design. This center design is collectively known to represent the universe.  At the top center and bottom center are water bugs. All the elements are connect to rain. This piece measures 57 inches in length and 33 1/2 inches wide. There is no weaver name attached.
