Originally purchased from the Foutz Trading Company in the 1980's. This Pictorial weaving is tiled "Hero Twins" and is depicting one of the Navajo stories. The Navajo Hero Twins, Monster Slayer and Born for Water, are central figures in Navajo mythology, known for their bravery, protection, and fight against evil monsters. They are the sons of Changing Woman, a powerful figure associated with the creation of the world and the cycles of life. Their story, often told to teach values and cultural beliefs, involves their quest to find their father, the Sun, and their journey to rid the world of monsters
We have been visiting and shopping at Toh-Atin for over twenty years. Always loved visiting with Jackson and his mother. We would spend hours gathering information on rugs, jewelry, and baskets- what a tremendous inventory. Everyone was so knowledgeable. We have so many memorable pieces. Jackson asked my husband, " How often do you get compliments on your tie?" We bought a very nice bolo! :)
We had just seen and visited with Jackson two weeks earlier and were so saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. What a loss to friends, family, and community. Our deepest condolences to his family and to the staff.
