Very large Germantown rug in vibrant red, black and white that is around 125 years old. The size, the color and the condition of the weaving make this a desirable textile for the Navajo rug collector. Germantown yarn was mill spun from Germantown, PA for a brief period of time and shipped down to the trading posts in the Southwest. The wool was desirable for the three and four ply spin allowing for intricate patterns and the colors were bright and attractive to the weavers. This rare beauty is 4 foot 8 inches by 8 feet.
