Navajo Weaving-Burnham-003066

All hand spun and dyed wool by Bernal Begay from Burnham, NM.  This finely spun Pictorial style weaving measures 36.5 by 20 inches.

  • Bernal Begay is the second generation of Burnham style weavers who have a unique style of Pictorial weaving that combines figures, with land scape, old style rugs patterns and often the Two Grey Hills rug style.  In this finely detailed weaving Bernal has titled " The Four Sisters", she has used a striped pattern that mixes the Navajo Sash with bands of serration and the four sisters are featured in a panel that has feathers at the top. The three younger sisters are looking to the eldest who has been their teacher and mentor.
