Navajo Father Sky box, CBJJ-06

10" L x 7.5" W

2.75" H

  • Richard Myklebust worked for Nambe and has been making pieces like this since the 1960s. He is located around Santa Fe NM. The Navajo culture used sandpaintings for healing ceremonies which intertwine with oral tradition. In most depictions, Father Sky and Mother Earth are next to each other just like how earth mirrors the universe. Father sky is often shown with the milkway, sun, moon, and stars. This drawing has been carved onto a sandcasted box that has an aluminum metal finish. It can be used as a storage box for; jewelry, etc. A unique piece to add to your collection.
