Hopi wicker baskets were made to store dry foods or other types of storage. Some were used for ceremonial purposes while others were given away as gifts. This basket is made out of plaiting slender stems of rabbitbrush over and under warps of squawberry sumac shoots. This basket has natural, orange, yellow and black dyes used in the rabbitbrush. This base has three sumac shoots that begin inward. This basket is dated around 1930s. Its has some wear from being used.
