“Native Legends,” includes a selection of Southwestern Native American painters whose work brought Indian art to the attention of collectors and museums between the 1940’s and the 1980’s.The work goes back to former students of Dorothy Dunn at the Santa Fe Indian School in the 1930’s and 40’s including Beatien Yazz and Harrison Begay. It also includes Oklahoma artists Walt Harris and Acee Blue Eagle, Pueblo painters Dan Namingha, Pablita Velarde and Raphael Medina, Navajo realists painters Jim Abeita, Robert Draper and Robert Becenti, Spiritual paintings by Clifford Brycelea and dozens more.
