  • Sandpainting rugs have to be blessed by the Medicine man before they can be sold.  This protective ritual cost the weaver and can add to the price of the rug when it is sold to the Trading Post.  This design is called "White Shell Arrow People" and it is a shooting chant ceremony that is considered to be a cleansing ceremony.   Award winning weaver Priscilla Atcitty has depicted this ceremonial weaving with great detail and finesse.
