    Margaret and Luther Gutierrez were a brother and sister team of Santa Clara Pueblo potters . Margaret was born in 1936 and Luther, the older brother, was born in 1911. He passed away in 1987. In the 1960's they began to collaborate on their pottery, continuing the polychrome style that was made famous by their parents, Lela and Van Gutierrez. Originally, the two concentrated on pottery that was very similar to their parents pieces. The made wedding vases, bowls and vase shaped pieces. In the 1970's, they began to create smaller pieces of these same styles but also began to craft small polychrome animals with personality. These were made using the same techniques and colors they had used in the larger pieces. The brother and sister team became well known in the pottery world and their work is now widely collected. Margaret still makes pottery with the help of family members, but not in the numbers she did before. Measures 2 inches high by 3 inches wide. Has a noticeable crack as seen in the photos.
