Navajo Rug-Gallup Throw-C006326

Regular Price:

Vintage Navajo weaving from the 1940-50's measures 19.5 by 36 inches.

  • Gallup Throw rugs are the exception to the rule in Navajo weaving because they have a cotton warp and they are not woven on a continual warp.  The fringe at one end indicates that this was woven and cut and tied off.  These weavings were common in the 1940's and 1950's when the weavers would take their rugs to the train station to be sold to the new arriving people from the Northeast.  This colorful little rug has the Trading Post orange and red and the design is a stylized corn stalk.
