This piece is an original painting of Pascua Yaqui artisan Amado Pena. The painting is done on handmade paper with bold watercolors. The "Colcha Roja" is from Amado's Mestizo series, colcha roja is best translated as the "Red Shawl". As you can see in the painting, there is an older indigenous women wrapped in a bright red shawl holding a traditional piece of pottery. Amado created this image in 2001 and signed it in the lower left corner as well as on the back. The frame measures 21 1/2" by 17 1/2" and the painting itself measures 15" by 11".
