Chester Polyestewa is a 3rd Mesa Hopi artist from the village of Hotevilla and he has been crafting kachinas since childhood. He is known for making traditional kachinas by using dead cottonwood roots and he uses old techniques to finish them. He creates his own natural vegetal dyes and mineral paints. The badger is known for his knowledge of roots and plants. His abilities to cure with herbal properties and his dedication to dancing during ceremony for the crops are his most well known capabilities. He stands 12" tall and the widest point measures 4".
